21. Registration
Requirements for Citizens and Nationals
of
Countries Designated by the State Department
From approximately December 16, 2002 through April 2003, nationals from the following countries had to report to the USCIS to register their presence:
Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Egypt,
Eritrea, Indonesia, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Jordan,
Kuwait, Libya, Morocco, North Korea, Oman,
Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan,
Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen
Although registration is no longer required, nationals of these countries can only depart the United States from certain border points and must register at a special immigration office located at the border points. Additionally, they will be registered at the Port of Entry as well. Please check the USCIS web site (www.immigration.gov) for a listing of the ports of departure and additional information regarding the registration. Failure to depart from the designated ports can lead to exclusion upon attempted re-entry into the United States.
